The relevance of the issue of studying the unification of new terms of military vocabulary in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is due to the rapid development of this area and, therefore, we are increasing the number of international and local agreements in the field of resolving the procedure for using the airspace of the Russian Federation by unmanned aerial vehicles.

Despite the unstable situation in relations between the Russian Federation and the countries of the NATO bloc, our country consistently implements programs for the development, production and operation of UAVs, including in close cooperation with friendly states. Confirmation of this can be found in open sources, in particular, according to the TASS publication, at the end of 2021, Iran provided the Russian Defense Ministry with a certain number of UAVs. This was reported at the official level of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. There is a known case of buying a license from Israel for the production of a Russian copy of the Israeli UAV intelligence "Searcher-2" called "Outpost". In addition, the latest Russian-made unmanned systems with an impact function appeared in the arsenal of domestic unmanned aviation: Orion, Hunter and others.

The development of a new direction of vehicles in airspace entails the need to create a system for monitoring and controlling air traffic, taking into account the specifics of their use, for the effectiveness of which it is necessary for specialists in the field to use a single terminology language. The introduction of new concepts, abbreviations and definitions, as well as their unification, have a number of goals:

1. Air traffic control among UAVs of all types and other aircraft.

2. Expand the existing database of terms used by countries at the international level to facilitate cooperation in this area.

Currently, the problem with the unification of aviation terms is that when controlling air traffic, exchanging radio messages between their participants, in creating applications for the use of airspace by a specific device, a certain set of terms is required related to all types of UAVs, including the latest, acceptable to all participants in air traffic, that is, one terminology language.

To this end, it is necessary to clarify the definition of such concepts as:

- "unification," considered in the scientific literature as bringing to uniformity, uniform form or system [1, 2, 3];

- "harmonization," as applied to this study, defined as an activity leading to the designation of one concept in different languages by terms reflecting the same or similar meanings [1, 2, 3];

- "standardization" is determinable as a standard-setting activity, which in turn implies bringing to the only form according to which the standard is established [1, 2, 3].

Regarding the standardization of terminology in the field of UAVs in the Russian Federation in 2016, Federal Standard - 57258 - 2016 was published, which includes all the main definitions of the concept and terms relevant for that period, translated from English into Russian for the exchange of radio messages, the production and operation of UAVs [3].

The standard includes a unified terminology of UAV related to radio exchange, technical elements of the device and its operation.

The mentioned Federal Standard was reissued in 2018, but due to the rapidly developing sphere of unmanned aircraft, especially in recent years, it is necessary to update the existing Federal Standard, taking into account the current changes in the production and operation technology [6].

The purpose of our further work is to analyze the existing ICAO terminology standardization documents, comparative analysis of the designated documents with the existing Federal Standard UAVs for making proposals for their updating.
