DIFFERENTIATED APPROACH IN ENGLISH LESSONS AS A MEANS OF ACTIVATING THE EDUCATIONAL AND COGNITIVE ACTIVITY OF STUDENTS ON THE EXAMPLE OF ENGLISH LESSON

Modern trends in basic general education proceed from the priority of the goal of developing the student's personality on the basis of creating conditions for his self-realization in educational activities.

The methodological basis of modern education, which implements the Federal State Educational Standard, is a system-activity approach, which consists in the fact that teaching is considered not as a simple translation of knowledge, but as cooperation between a teacher and a student in the process of active educational and cognitive activity.

In this regard, it can be argued that the effectiveness and quality of the educational process depends on the results of the activation of cognitive activity of students.

The cognitive activity of schoolchildren is an element of the holistic learning process, which is a purposeful, systematically organized, externally controlled or independent interaction of the student with the surrounding reality, the result of which is the mastery of a system of scientific knowledge and methods of activity at the level of reproduction or creativity.

The success of the activation of educational and cognitive activity is associated with the educational and methodological work on the implementation of a differentiated approach in teaching.

The word "differentiation" is of Latin origin and means division, stratification of the whole into various parts, forms, stages. On the basis of the principle of differentiation, the technology of differentiated learning is built as a set of organizational solutions, means and methods of teaching covering a certain part of the educational process.

In modern pedagogy, a differentiated approach to teaching does not receive an unambiguous assessment, positive and negative aspects are highlighted.

The positive side of the differentiated approach in teaching is the exclusion of unjustified and inappropriate averaging of children for society. The negative side of the differentiated approach is the fact that the division of children into groups on various grounds is largely inhumane.

The implementation of a differentiated approach in the design of certain teaching methods in accordance with the tasks set contributes to the formation and development of students' activity in educational and cognitive activities, which, of course, contributes to its effectiveness.
