The article attempts to identify and analyze the features of the image of war in feature film "Fury" by D. Ayer. The film was released in 2014 and was awarded a National Society of Film Critics for Best Cast. The film also received a nomination for the Golden Frog award at the Camerimage International Film Festival and three nominations for the Sputnik Award for Best Artist and Best Editing. In 2015 it was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Stunt Performance and the Japanese Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. The screenplay of the film is based on events on the Western Front during World War II.

The film struck the audience with the heroic character of the crew of the tank "Fury" [1]. Director David Ayer managed to stay on the fine line between the terrible truth and superhero fiction, he not only created several striking battle scenes, but also soaked every frame in the gray color of war.

The main plot is tied to the lives of the crew, these are five characters who are not inherently superhumans or superheroes, but together they made up a whole mechanism in battle, which was almost impossible to crush. At the beginning of the film we are given to understand that the crew commander is a certain Sergeant Don Collier, played by Brad Pitt.

Don is not fighting for the first day, the tank has become literally a second home for him. The crew is one of the few ones who managed to get out of all the troubles alive. But their machine gunner dies in one of the battles. The entire crew mourns the loss, and at this time it gets a recruit. It was Norman Ellison, played by Logan Lerman. This young man not only never fought, but did not even hold a weapon in his hands. A little later Don's crew receives a rather dangerous task, and the commander has an acute fear for the life of the rookie, as well as that because of the infantilism of the recruit, Don will not be able to save the crew from death. The sergeant decides to arrange a baptism of fire, after which the recruit begins to perform his duties.

In one of the German cities Norman meets a German girl Emma and becomes attached to her, but bombs dropped by German fighters on the allied troops fall into a residential building, and Emma dies in front of his eyes.

The tank unit moves to the next city to reinforce the allied forces, but the fascist heavy tank "Tiger" destroys it, only Don’s crew manages to survive. They move to the road fork to meet reinforcements there, as provided for the combat mission, but run into a mine, the tank fails. The crew can't fix it. After a while, the SS battalion comes to the place where the "Fury" was standing. The whole team enters the battle, knowing that they will die. They manage to destroy a large number of SS soldiers, but the ammunition is not infinite, and the tankers are killed.

Norman is the only one who survived, having made his way through the hatch in the bottom of the tank. He was lying in the mud, not making a sound, but then one of the Germans decided to look under the tank and saw the survivor, but he turned around and left, did not give up Norman. The next day, he was found by Allied troops. The German's action made the private think. After all, he had killed many people, and here he was simply left alive.

Thus, the film shows many horrors of war – the loss of friends and relatives, humiliation and suffering, death and injury, but at the same time the war is depicted against the background of people’s courage and bravery. In the film there is the following quote belonging to Cus D'Amato, who was the famous coach of Muhammad Ali: “Everyone is afraid. Fear should be used correctly. It needs to be turned into a rage.” This quote reflects the main idea of the military drama "Fury".
