Great Britain is an island country in the North-West of Europe, whose creative personalities are known all over the world. Especially famous are British musical groups of the second half of the 20th century. Such as the Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, the Clash and Oasis.

The British Invasion” is a term referring to the musical phenomenon of the mid-to-second half of the sixties, when British rock music began to dominate both the national and international (mostly American) charts. The beginning of the phenomenon is considered to be the American success of the Beatles ' single "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and the subsequent visit of the group to America. [1]

When American rock ' n ' roll crossed the continent and began to conquer Europe, the British were the first to meet it. Officially, rock and roll and rockabilly were strictly forbidden.

The Beatles are still the undisputed champion of British music, even three decades after their break-up. Founded in 1960 in Liverpool, the band is still the most influential band of the rock era, with more innovations in pop music than any other band in the world. The Beatles remain the best-selling band in both the UK and the US. In the course of their relatively short career they have won an incredible number of first lines in the British charts. [3]

The history of the Beatles can be told endlessly, constantly discovering new facts about the biographies of musicians, the stories of their songs. There is no doubt that in the history of rock music, the Beatles are one of the most famous British rock bands - a whole era, their work has largely influenced the further development of this direction. The history of the Beatles is unique, thanks to it we have a huge number of styles and directions of rock collectives. [2]

An equally interesting musical group is Oasis. Oasis was formed in 1991 and quickly rose to fame, with the media often commenting on the similarities between the band and the Beatles. Long-term public interest in the group remained high, but not exceptional. Their sound took inspiration from the work of early rock bands. In many ways, the band belongs to the alternative Rock genre. Their songs have won top positions in the UK charts eight times. Developed from an earlier group, the Rain, the band originally consisted of Liam Gallagher, Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan, and Tony McCarroll. Liam's elder brother, Noel Gallagher joined as a fifth member, who formed the band's core and settled line-up. During the course of their existence, they had various line-up changes, though the Gallagher brothers remained as the staple members until the group's dissolution. [4]

Another well-known band the Clash is worth mentioning. The Clash is a British musical group formed in 1976 in London under the influence of the music and image of the punk rock band Sex Pistols. The Clash is one of the first and most famous punk rock bands. Despite the great popularity that the band gained in the punk scene, it also experimented with other musical styles, from reggae to hip-hop. This breadth of musical range, political uncompromising, full of energy and provocations concerts brought the Clash uncharacteristic for punk major success at home and abroad. [5]

The English rock band is known for its quasi-operatic distinctive sound and live concerts. The band "Queen" was created in 1970, and its founders are considered to be Roger Taylor and Brian May. Later, the band was joined by Freddie Mercury, who came up with the main name of the band. Before Freddy, the band had bass players Mike Grow, Barry Mitchell, and Doug Bogie. They were replaced by John Deacon, who remained in the musical community for many years.

The band's 1977 album News of the World contained "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions", which have become anthems at sporting events. By the early 1980s, Queen was one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world. "Another One Bites the Dust" (1980) became their best-selling single, while their 1981 compilation album Greatest Hits is the best-selling album in the UK and has been certified eight times platinum in the US. Their performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert has been ranked among the greatest in rock history by various publications. In August 1986, Mercury gave his last performance with Queen at Knebworth, England. In 1991, he died of bronchopneumonia - a complication of AIDS, and Deacon retired in 1997. Since 2004, May and Taylor have toured under the "Queen +" name with vocalists Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert. [6]

Pink Floyd is rightfully considered a historical group. The British band has maintained a worldwide following for more than thirty years. Formed within the framework of the psychedelic underground, the band's creativity developed in the further direction of art rock – it is not by chance that the musical style developed by the musicians is sometimes called psychedelic art rock. [7]

Over time, their work has undergone significant changes, but the best of what has been achieved has always been preserved and the group has never lost its taste for further experiments. The band's innovation was evident not only in the music, but also in the use of the latest technical achievements in the Studio and at concerts. For example, the group was one of the first to use laser and quadraphonic equipment, demonstrate slides, movies, animation, etc.

Thus, the British invasion is a unique musical and historical phenomenon that has generated a huge number of followers. Unique musical groups were created that have no analogues. Musicians of this wave still do not lose their popularity and are among the most listened to in the world.
