An important factor affecting the performance of machines and mechanisms, as well as the amount of repair costs, is a reasonable determination of the type, volume, place and time of repair. In this regard, the correct assessment of the criteria of the limit state, regulating the reasonable formulation of equipment for repair, taking into account the completeness of the use of technical resource of its components, can increase by 20...30% of the actual time between repairs and reduce by 15...20% of repair costs. In this regard, a very important task is the development and research of methods and technical means of diagnosis that can reduce to a minimum the downtime of machines and equipment, and the created technical means should be as consistent as possible with the level of development of modern science and technology. All agricultural technology should reflect the latest scientific advances in functionality and technology. It is necessary to use the best practices of dynamically developing areas of science. It is this innovative and versatile approach to the development of technical means for agricultural production that will allow to bring machines and equipment to a higher technical level, which will increase its productivity along with reducing operating costs.

To date, it is known that in order to ensure optimal reliability of machines and equipment used in agricultural production, it is necessary not to control the duration of their work, but to control the degree and intensity of changes in their operational properties, as well as the permissible value of these changes.

Devices of different operating principles and different designs have been developed, but among them there is no such device with which it is possible to conduct Express analyses of various technological environments, including autonomously ("in the field") with minimal operating costs and low requirements for the qualification of maintenance personnel [1, 2].

Using the method of magnetometry for the diagnosis of contamination of technological media by ferromagnetic impurities is possible:

increase the reliability of machines and equipment and reduce downtime due to repairs on their actual condition;

reduce operating costs by extending service life;

reduce the load on the environment-for example, in the diagnosis of engine oil and its replacement by the actual state;

use the same device for the diagnosis of both liquid and solid media.

Diagnostic devices working on the principle of direct or indirect fixation of changes in the magnetic properties of the medium can be widely used in agricultural enterprises.
