Device of Therapeutic Hypothermia

What do we know about hypothermia? And what new device is it being treated with? These issues are to be addressed in this report.

Hypothermia is a decrease in the average body temperature. To control its internal temperature, the body must be able to feel the temperature difference with the environment and respond accordingly. To do this, human body is provided with receptors located on the skin, in the spinal cord, muscles and brain, which promptly trigger physiological changes to quickly cope with the impact of negative external conditions on the body.

Temperature control in humans is a balance between the production of heat as a result of metabolic processes, for example, digestion and heat output as a result of breathing. In connection with this problem, Izhevsk mechanical plant began mass production of devices of therapeutic hypothermia VISAR ATG-01. The weight of this device is 60 kg, with a capacity of 450 watts. Its dimensions are 940х450х520.

 What will VISAR ATG-01 allow in medical practice? It will reduce high mortality and disability due to irreversible changes in the brain in pathologies associated with overheating and destruction of brain cells.

What is the principle of operation of this device? The principle of operation is based on controlled cooling of the brain to a temperature of not less than 29°C without the development of general cooling of the body. Cooling is carried out using a special helmet, which circulates the coolant. Cold affects the lesion on the line, reduces the metabolism of neurons, reinforces the strength of cell membranes, reduces their need for oxygen.

Thus, it solves the main problem of resuscitation, i.e. it lengthens the period of reversible brain changes in clinical death from 5-7 minutes to 30-45 minutes or even more.
