In the 1950s D. T. Ross began working on a project of the same name at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At that time the CAD system was considered to be only a system of geometric modeling. With the invention of computers, the results obtained showed that the design area is amenable to computerization; during this period the focus was concentrated only on automated drawing systems. Many software products of that time were called automated drawing systems (ADS).
In the 1880s "microcomputers" began to appear and software for 3D modeling for such microcomputers were being developed. It turned out to be a very huge innovation in this industry, because before that everyone drew with the help of rulers and pencils, calculations were made on the millimeter paper, because of that there were errors in the consequence of the human factor. Computer modeling helped to speed up the process of calculations and drawing, thus it gained more popularity among engineers.
In the 1990s there appeared many programs to build models and drawings, because of this there was no consistency between companies and firms. Manufacturers have realized this drawback and given people an opportunity to convert drawings into a format that will be available to all. So, a single format of drawings and modeling was implemented, with which you can go to different programs in order to combine the efforts of people who worked in different programs. Here engineering got to the point when automation in the CAD system was worked out, at that period no other programs could provide such a connection. Machine graphics has reached a new level and began to surpass manual drawing. CAD systems eventually were taught full automation, with the help of a computer it was possible to do a lot, it reduced production costs as such a process replaced the work of several people. Programs could be switched to communication with CNC machines and could do the work that could be fulfilled only by a very experienced worker.
Thus, CAD systems have changed everything in our lives and by our time we've come to the point where some machines are produced from start to finish with the help of CAD systems and new technologies. Now people are freed from manual work, they can apply their brain and spend more time on something new so as not to stick in the last century.
