CAD Programs in Mechanical Engineering

In my work I would like to consider the usefulness of the 3D modeling in CAD programs for the engineering industry. According to the world's leading analysts, the main factors for success in modern industrial production are the following three factors:

shortening the time of the product entry to a market,

reducing its cost and

improving its quality.

These requirements can be fulfilled by the so-called computer-aided design systems (CAD).

There are various types of programs, some of which allow you to create and edit the drawings, create 3D models and then convey them on a solid model, they help to carry out verification and test calculations of a previously created model, there are also programs capable of performing several functions.

In modern engineering CAD programs are used at almost every stage of work. When developing a project, modeling is used to examine the idea, decide on the overall dimensions; when working on a draft you can remove the excess or add something that is missing. After creating a digital prototype, it is possible to find out the mass, density, make calculations of the product strength, improve its appearance, it is also possible to create any photo and video materials representing the development. Further CAD programs will help us in making drawings of both assembly models and their individual parts, as well as specifications for assembly drawings. Also in almost all programs, various training materials and hints will help the novice user to understand the interface of the program, or help to identify possible errors even for already experienced users.

At the enterprises the programs are used for illustration so that the buyer can visually see the products, for compilation an online database of products. Besides these programs are necessary to systematize the developments or the products, to improve the systems, designs and devices already invented.

In conclusion, it should be emphasized that CAD is much faster and more accurate than manual drawing; designs can be quickly modified, reproduced and transmitted electronically. Thus, thanks to its great functionality CAD programs have gained great popularity in the engineering industry and in many other branches both at foreign and at Russian enterprises.
