The relevance of the studied problem is explained by the fact that our society faces the scarcity of theoretical and practical researches about the interinfluence of a society and teenagers who use drugs. The purpose of this investigation is to explain the essence of drug addiction, to study its causes and consequences and to describe the ways of solving this problem.

In modern society a lot of forbidden things are available in different forms, for example, drugs. Teenager drug and alcohol use is one of the most urgent problems nowadays.

The sale and use of drugs lead to an increase in crime that becomes a significant factor in increasing social tension, contributing to the moral and mental degradation of certain segments of the population. Drug addiction and related crime threaten the national security of the state. The fight against them becomes, therefore, a problem of national importance.

Drug addiction began to spread in Russia in the early 90^th of XX century. Now it is one of the leading places in the ranking of social problems in Russia. In June 2017 the number of drug addicts in the medical post of Russia amounted to 800 thousand people.

Natural drugs appeared in Russia in ancient times and were mostly used for treatment of diseases. Cannabis preparations, for example, were used as antiemetic agents in the treatment of bronchial asthma, glaucoma, etc.But many years later synthetic drugs appeared, the use of which leads to death.

Drug addiction is not a disease in the usual sense of the word. It is the total defeat of the personality, which affects all sides of the inner world, relationships with other people and ways of existence, in most cases accompanied by complications from the physical health. A person who follows the path of a drug addict constantly destroys his best moral qualities, becomes mentally ill, loses friends, family, cannot acquire a profession or forgets the one he used to own, remains without work, brings an abyss of misfortune to himself and others and finally slowly destroys his body.

What are the causes of human drug use?

Firstly, it is the curiosity, the craving for a new, unusual inherent in every person. That’s why every person must realize that this new and unusual is not always safe, that caution never hurts. The danger lies precisely in the fact that curiosity is uncontrollable.

Secondly, people using drugs want to escape from reality, stress, depression, aggression. It is a phenomenon existing not only in the adult world.One of the opportunities to get away from the problems is drug use, because of which you can immerse yourself in the world of dreams, to feel a sense of elation at least for some time.

Thirdly, it is accessibility. Despite the great efforts of the police, customs and other law enforcement agencies it is not possible to remove all illegal substances from circulation.

Also, the causes of drug use can be self-doubt or excessive reassessment of their own “I”, immaturity, a sense of inability to cope with difficulties, lack of sustainable interests and hobbies.

In Russia as in the whole world the incidence of drug addiction among teenagers is higher than among adults. Now there is an increase in drug addiction among children. The average age of people using drugs is constantly reduced.

Most teenagers have the wrong idea about the dangers of drug addiction and its consequences. It seems to them that they can easily get off this deadly habit at any moment, that they are strong enough mentally and physically to overcome the addiction. But this happens very rarely.

According to the freelance chief narcologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Evgeny Brun 8 thousand people annually die in Russia of an overdose of drugs and various psychotropic drugs. In addition drug addiction leads to the spread of HIV infection, disability, suicide and illegal acts. Drug addicts are at risk of hepatitis and AIDS.

What are the ways to solve this sociological problem?

Drug addiction is the death of the nation. It is not only the disintegration of the personality, but also the loss of the gene pool, because the use of the intravenous drug is fraught with HIV infectionin 97 per cent of cases, so it is necessary to take urgent measures and ways to solve this problem.

Effective suppression of the crimes related to illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs depends on the policy of the state. The main blow should not be to drug addicts, but to those involved in the distribution and marketing of drugs and the involvement of new victims in their consumption. In order to combat this social problem criminal liability for drug traffickers and distributors should be increased, and awareness raising among young people against drug use should be increased.

Also preventive measures to combat drug addiction in Russia should include the development of effective methods of assessment and control of the drug situation in different regions and among different groups of the population, the creation of special social and health organizations to help the population, the creation of centers of counseling, treatment and rehabilitation assistance to persons with drug addiction and their families with the participation of doctors, lawyers, teachers, psychologists and social workers.More classes should be given at schools and universities dealing with the problem of society to remind that no matter how difficult the situation is, drugs are not an option, drugs are death.

Various complexes are being created to implement measures of social support for persons suffering from drug addiction and members of their families.

Thus, the relevant problem of drug usage in Russia is considered in this article. The essence of drug addiction and the history of existence of drugs are studied. The causes of human drug use are defined. The average age of drug addicts is identified. The necessity to take measures to combat this problem and to improve the methods of treatment and prevention of drug addiction is proved. The increase of promotion of a healthy lifestyle among children and teenagers is justified.
