Biography

(25 September 1920 with Belozёrka, Ukrainian SSR -. 20 October 1994, Moscow, Russia) - Soviet and Russian film and theater actor, film director, writer, and teacher. People's Artist of the USSR (1952). Hero of Socialist Labor (1980). The winner of the Lenin Prize (1960), the Stalin Prize of the first degree (1952), USSR State Prize (1984), State Prize of the RSFSR. Bro. Vasilyev (1977). Winner of the Academy Award "Oscar".

Sergei Bondarchuk - a Ukrainian by birth. Childhood Bondarchuk were held in Yeisk and youth - in Taganrog, where the passion for theater and cinema led him to the stage of the local drama theater. The desire to choose a profession actor did not support his father, an engineer, who considered actor's craft frivolous pastime. But he had to put up with the choice of his son, as Sergei was steadfast in his desire.

In 1938 Bondarchuk arrived in the Rostov Theatre School, which has not had time to finish because of the outbreak of World War II. Direction

Director 's biography of Sergei Bondarchuk started in 1959, when he was appointed director "Mosfilm". In the same year he made his directorial debut: on the screens out the picture "Man's Fate" on a story by Sholokhov, where Bondarchuk also appeared as the protagonist of the tape. The film was warmly received by the audience and the country has won the Lenin Prize, the Grand Gold Prize of the International Film Festival in Moscow and many other awards.

The undoubted achievement of the world's national cinema becomes a movie epic Sergey Fedorovich "War and Peace". A screen adaptation of the great works of Leo Tolstoy's director brought worldwide fame. This work, he devoted six years of his life. The first series of "Bolkonsky," was released in 1966. Then every year - three more series. "War and Peace" brought Bondarchuk director "Oscar" and Diploma Film Festival in Venice. The film was screened in 117 countries worldwide.

Another masterpiece of the director was a picture of "They Fought for Their Country," published in 1975. For the first time in the Soviet cinema Sergei Bondarchuk showed bitterness and dramatic retreat of the Soviet army. It is not like many officials, but the film was so good that won the State Prize of the RSFSR.

In 1978, Sergey Fedorovich was able to realize his dream and filmed the story of Anton Chekhov's "The Steppe". And in 1982 it appeared his new film - "Red Bells" on the works of John Reed. For this work he was awarded the USSR State Prize.

In 1989-1990 Bondarchuk with producer Enzo Rispoli in Italy he worked on the production of the epic painting "Quiet Flows the Don". It was the last film directed by. Unfortunately, during the life of Sergei Fedorovich I never saw the release of "Quiet Flows the Don" in theaters. Only in 2006 was able to complete the picture and sound. Personal life

The first wife of Sergei Bondarchuk was Yevgeny Belousov. It is not known whether the couple painted officially, or civil marriage was. After the war and Bondarchuk Belousov parted. He went to the capital, she stayed in Rostov. From this union came the first son Bondarchuk - Alex.

The actor and director has been awarded numerous state awards and cinematic. He was the winner of the Stalin Prize (1952), Lenin Prize (1960), named after the RSFSR Vassiliev Brothers State Prize (1977), USSR State Prize (1984). In 1952 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. In 1980, Bondarchuk was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor.

Among his awards - the Order of Lenin (1967, 1980), the October Revolution (1974), Red Banner of Labor (1970), World War 2 nd degree (1985).
