Peter Seamus O'Toole ( 2 August 1932 – 14 December 2013) British actor of the Irish origin. Had most nominations on "Oscar" (eight) for actor's work, but without single victory. For the semicentennial career it was awarded four "Gold globes" (twice as the best drama actor), the awards BAFTA and Emmie.

Studied in Royal academy of drama art, worked in the Bristol Old Vick (English) русск. In the sixties the blue-eyed stately blonde O'Tul got popularity in role of the romantic hero. The world glory to it was brought by impersonation of Lawrence Araviysky in the British movie of 1962 of the same name. It was twice nominated for "Oscar" for a role of the English king Henry II (Beckett 1964, "A lion in the winter" 1968). Among noticeable roles of the 1970th years there is Tiberiya's role in the drama "Kaligula" (1979).

In the 1970th years struggled with alcoholism, was on the verge of death after removal of a pancreas and a considerable part of a stomach, but overcame an illness.

In 1989 with great success played the header character in the British statements of the play of Keith Waterhouse "Jeffrey Bernard is unhealthy" (played this "a crown role" in various theaters till 1999).

Returned to "big cinema" "The last emperor" Bernardo Bertolucci (1987).

Up to 1999 continued to play the leading roles in various theaters of Great Britain, Ireland and the USA. Among noticeable film works of the last time there is Priam (Troy, 2004), Casanova (series "Casanova", 2005). For a role of the veteran of a theatrical scene Maurice dying from cancer to the tragicomedies "Venus" (2006) last time in life it was provided to "Oscar".

O'Tul is known as the chronic loser of the Oscar: he was nominated eight times in category "The Best Male Role", but never won. O'Tul yielded a victory to such famous actors as Gregory Peck, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro and to others.

When in 2003 the American academy of motion picture art at last conferred its honourable award for a contribution to development of cinema, he at first refused to accept an award, but, eventually, changed the decision and appeared at a ceremony.

1997 on July 9, 2012 79-year-old Peter O'Tul declared the termination of a film career.

One and a half years later, on December 14, 2013, 81-year-old O'Tul has died in the London hospital Wellington where he was brought in two days before, after a serious and long illness. Condolences in connection with O'Tul's death by one of the first were expressed by the president of Ireland, the close friend of the actor Michael Higgins.

Farewell to the actor and cremation have taken place in a crematorium Golders Greene. Ashes have been dispelled in the homeland in Ireland.

Peter O'Tul was married twenty years (till 1979) to the actress Shang Phillips from Wales. From this marriage at O'Tul two daughters Kate and Patricia. Both actresses. Also he has a son Lorkan from the former model of Karen Sammerfild.

1. 1966 - How to steal one million How to Steal a Million( Simon Dermot)

The action takes place in Paris. A young girl, the daughter of a millionaire, secretly hunted fake works of art, and the offender must steal from the exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts is one of the "masterpieces" the girl's father to save him from being exposed.
