Yevgeny Pavlovich Leonov

Early life

The genius Soviet comedian Yevgeny Leonov was born in Moscow in a family of simple aircraft and housewives, two years after his older brother. Leonov lived in a communal apartment on Vasilevsky street, but despite the closeness, their house was always full of guests. Mother Anna Ilinichna was the soul of the company. She was able to talk so funny any, even the most mundane stories that the guests were ready to listen to them for hours. Little Eugene is clearly picked up this talent of his mother.

When Leonov finished seventh grade, the war began. On the front of the boy did not go, he performed feats of labor in the rear. Throughout the war Leonovs whole family worked at an aircraft factory: the father - an aircraft, the mother - timekeeper, brother - copiers, and Eugene - apprentice turner.

At the beginning of the war the future actor entered the Aviation Engineering College. Ordzhonikidze, but he never finished. Amateur Art in college so captivated Eugene that third year he went to the Moscow experimental theater studio by Rostislav Zakharov, the famous choreographer of the theater.

Far from art uncouth young man who asked for a jacket even in the exam from his older brother, he won the selection committee for its charm. He read serious theater teachers all learned in college amateur theater: Zoshchenko, Chekhov, but in the end, and his favorite poem Bloc "in the restaurant." Teachers consulted and decided that from such a young man can be made of textured fine actor. And do not make a mistake.

Eugene went into the development of the acting profession with his head. He came into the studio at eight in the morning, and went well past midnight.

Theater

Plunged into a new life, Evgeny happy every day lost in the studio from 8 am until after midnight. Great influence on him had Andrey Goncharov, who returned from the front, began to conduct their course. After graduation in 1947, Leonov was admitted to the Moscow theater Dzerzhinsky District, where he soon played the role of Kolka in the play "Peers". However, a year later the theater was disbanded, and instead created the Moscow Drama Theater of Stanislavsky, mainly directed by Vladimir Fedorovich Dudin. Young actors have taken to the new theater, but for a long time did not trust the main roles, and Leonov had to play in the crowd - orderly in "Three Sisters", a collective farmer in "Silent forests" and other bit parts.

In 1988, during the "Lenkom" tour in Hamburg Yevgeny Leonov survived clinical death. He played a defendant in the play "Dictatorship of Conscience", and three days after the performance his heart stopped. Leonov made a coronary artery bypass surgery, but right after the surgery, the actor suffered a massive heart attack. The actor was in a coma sixteen days, and all the time for your favorite actor was going through the whole country. And he returned.

Films

Yevgeny Leonov debut in the movie took place in 1947. His first bit parts were so small that their history is not retained. In 1949, the actor in the film Vladimir lit Nemolyaeva "Pencil on Ice" and "Happy Flight", but again in the episodes. Then the young actor began to trust more serious roles, and in 1961 on Soviet screens released film by Vladimir Fetin "Striped flight", after which Leonov became famous. If the Soviet Union was considered box office, this comedy would have broken all records: in just one year, it looked more than thirty two million people.

The actor has become so popular that it would withdraw almost all Soviet filmmakers. Suddenly, the actor changed his comic roles, playing a Cossack Yakov Shibalka melodrama Vladimir Fetin "Don novel" the stories of Mikhail Sholokhov. The dramatic role was performed Leonov so brilliantly that he got for it just two awards: the All-Union Festival in Kiev and at the Third International Festival in New Delhi.

Actor loved not only the audience, but also the brightest Soviet directors. At George Danelia he played in the tragi-comedy "Do not worry!" Victor Merezhko - in "Zarechensky suitors," Peter Todorovski - in "Magicians", Eldar Ryazanov - in the satirical comedy "Zigzag of Luck", and in 1969 the voice Leonova He said one of the most famous Soviet cartoon characters - Winnie the Pooh.

Leonov played Nellie Ledneva father in "Big change" and other Athos in "Mount Athos", but one of his best roles considered Sarafanova role in the film-drama "eldest son" Vitaly Melnikov. Amazingly fine actor managed to convey the rich inner world of the protagonist tongue-tied.

In 1978, Mark Zakharov, who by that time Leonov was playing in the theater, the actor offered the role of the king in the film "Ordinary Miracle". It was a real professional challenge. Leonov had to embody the same way that before he played a great Erast Garin. What came out of it, knows every fan of romantic Soviet film. Leonov played the father of the heroine Eugenia Simonova so convincingly that until now the legend goes, the actor and in fact her father.

In the mid-eighties Leonov played in the movie George Danelia, who later became a cult classic. It was a fantastic satirical comedy "Kin-Dza-Dza". Shoot a picture in the Karakum Desert. Working conditions were so severe that the crew is constantly cursing. The director then was surprised that he had managed to quarrel not disputed even Leonov, which not heard a single harsh word twenty years together.

Personal life

Leonov from his youth was very shy in dealing with women, realizing that he looks - not far from the hero-lover. His future wife, the actor met on the street. He arrived in Sverdlovsk on tour with the theater of Stanislavsky and the first thing along with a friend went to look unfamiliar city. Comrade, unlike Eugene was not the timid and very quickly found for both of them a pleasant female company - two students of musical and pedagogical school. One of them was called a rare and mysterious name Wanda. Leonov was so fascinated by her that same evening invited her to his show, and then took a walk through the night Serdlovsku reading poetry.

School in Sverdlovsk Wanda never finished. Back in Moscow, Leonov broke her phone, trying to persuade to come, and she gave up. Parents Eugene came to the delight of his lady, and he immediately made her an offer. But Wanda's parents saw their daughter is married to a serious person, but not for "any actor out there", besides, while unknown. But she still said Leonov "yes."
